eReaders and TBR lists

I saw this interesting question meme going around and thought I would write a post about it. The question came from Yummy Men and Kick Ass Chicks. The question is: Did your tbr pile get bigger after the stork brought your eReader or did owning an eReader actually help control your pile?

I have to say my to be read pile has grown so much that it is impossible to keep up with anymore. According to Amazon’s Manage My Kindle page, I have almost FOUR THOUSAND ebooks! Of course the majority of these are free books. Since I’m a book hoarder, I have learned to feed my obsession by hoarding free ebooks since they take up no space and do not bother anyone. I download at least 10 free books every day, sometimes more if there are ones that sound good. I mean, really, they just go to my account (I don’t always download them to my device – most of them go to the cloud for maybe someday future retrieval). Plus, ebooks are not like books on a shelf where you can walk by and see exactly what you have easily. I have to scroll through pages and pages to get the titles of ebooks I have. So, in short, my eReader has made my tbr list impossible. So I don’t bother with a true tbr list. I just read whatever I feel like and just don’t worry about the invisible books tied to my account.
