A weekend of car issues
So recently my car has been squeeeeeeking bad when braking, and we realized that I was overdue for an oil change, so we figured we’d take the car in and get the brakes looked at and get the oil changed. We went to Pep Boys on Saturday to drop off the car and get it worked on. We also had them change out the battery terminals because they were pretty bad and we couldn’t get jumper cables to work very well. So after doing a brake inspection, they said I have no front brakes, and have been using only the back brakes. Whoops. So we had them repair it. Later they told us they recommend me getting new tires because the tread is just about gone and also mentioned another brake kit thing that they probably should do. I was a bit upset about the brake kit thing, because they should have brought that up the first time they called us about the brake repairs and should have taken care of it while they were already in there. We decided to hold off on the tires and check with our local place where we bought new tires for hubby’s Truck just a month ago, thinking maybe they can give us a better deal, so we went there on Sunday. Turns out Pep Boys had a better deal, so we went back to them to get the tires and the brake kit. My brakes still made a squeak, not as loud as before but it was still there, so we had them check on that. They then told us the back breaks needed some repair. And I’m like why didn’t they tell us this yesterday while they did an inspection. Then they said well they only need the repair if you want to get rid of the noise. Well which is it? So we got them to tell us they are perfectly safe as they are and just will make some noise due to some wear on the back whatever, and I said fine leave it as it is cause we’ve spent enough money already. Saturday’s bill came to about $260 and Sunday’s bill came to about $480. That credit card bill will be fun to pay. But at least they had some rebate programs for one free tire and some money back on an oil change and the front brake work, so we’ll get about $100 back from that in a while. Yea, isn’t that a great way to spend a weekend?
