Animals are interesting creatures

So the dog’s OK now, her test results came back normal and she’s done with her special food and medicine. We think we know what caused her tummy problems. See, I’ve noticed some cat litter in the hallway next to the bathroom where we keep the catbox and I figured it was tracking from the cat’s paws. But then we caught the dog with treats in her mouth (can we say ewwwww?) and you better believe I beat her when I saw that. The doctor says that’s probably what caused it. So hubby and I went and bought a door chain and installed it on the outside of the bathroom. It doesn’t look like it belongs, obviously as that’s not the front door, but it doesn’t look tacky and it makes it so the door is open wide enough for the cat to get in and out, but the dog can’t. And we can take the chain off to use the bathroom. And once we did that, the litter tracking outside the door stopped. So this whole time it was the stupid dog. Man, animals are weird.

Speaking of the dog, yesterday hubby and I got our keycard in the mail for the lake park in our community. So today we went there with the dog. Even though dogs are supposed to stay on leashes we let her run free since we were the only ones there. She chased some ducks straight into the lake! It was the funniest thing cause she’s never been swimming before and didn’t realize the lake wasn’t solid ground. She just walked right in, and then sank real quick, then paddled her way up and swam around. It was so funny. She loved it though, she jumped back in a few more times and then we threw a ball to her a bit. She whimpers when she swims though, so we wonder if it’s cause she’s tired and can barely keep up or if she’s just confused with the new sensations heh. That really was enjoyable though. We’ve been wanting to go to the park for months and finally we got the keycard and could go. Well, really, I finally read a sign that said who runs the park (our municipal utility district) and went to their website and found how to order the keycard.

It was a very nice way to spend the afternoon that we played hooky. Hooky you ask? Yes, see my very smart hubby managed to forget to change out his books in his bag for today’s classes, and you can’t go to class unprepared cause those profs really like to call on people and chew out people who aren’t ready, and it’s quite obvious when you don’t have your book. So he just sat in an empty classroom and did some work on his paper and then I saw him on gmail at just before 2pm. He told me about his books issue and that he wasn’t going to class and that he just wanted to go home. And I decided since it is Friday afternoon and happens to be our 4 month wedding anniversary heh and that I could bring some work home with me this weekend, that I could just leave early and he could come get me. So he did, and we were home by like 3:30 rather than almost 6! It was quite necessary since this is his Army National Guard drill weekend and since he drills in San Antonio (and we live outside Houston) he has to leave Friday evening to drive for over 2.5 hours. So it’s just me and the pets heh. Anyway, it was nice to get to spend some time on our little anniversary after all.
