This blog spans three weeks.
This might get long, but I’ll try to sum things up cause I don’t have all that much time.
We arrived in Hawaii on Wednesday June 6. The wedding was Tuesday June 12. Most of the time prior to the wedding was spent preparing to the wedding, including going down to the Dept. of Health to apply for a Marriage License, meeting with our officiant, going to the officiant’s weekend services, having a rehearsal, and then finally, the wedding. The day after the wedding was spent filing the paperwork so our wedding can be made official. I am now a wife, though I don’t have official paper proof yet haha. I submitted a request for an official copy of the marriage license, since the official license comes in 3 months, so I can have my proof to change my name in everything.
Anyway, the wedding went beautifully. We kept the ceremony short because we’re nervous enough standing there waiting to say the vows and exchange rings. The ceremony happened on the beach, at Waialae Beach Park in Honolulu, Hawaii. After we were wed, we got to cut the cake and toast with sparkling cider. Then we took a bajillion beautiful pictures then went to another beach at Magic Island for more gorjuzzz pictures up until the sunset. I haven’t uploaded all my photos yet (yahoo photos is closing and I need to find a new place to show all my billions of pictures so for now I made a few albums at facebook), but here are the top 60 of the ceremony/after photoshoot: Facebook Public Album of Wedding Photos. After the photos we all went out to dinner. All is me and my hubby, both our parents and his sister. We ate at the Hanohano room at the Sheraton, for anyone familiar with Waikiki. It was a very nice place with a great view. I was very pleased with the way the day went.
The honeymoon/vacation was awesome as well. My hubby can’t sit still, though I’m a beach bum and can sleep on the beach for hours and hours, so we ended up doing a lot of tours and keeping busy. Thursday all 7 of us rented a van and toured around the island of Oahu. We saw some great sights and took lots of photos of course. We stopped by the blow hole (where water shoots up through a hole in the rocks, click here for the video I took), the Dole plantation, a few different beaches, Turtle Bay resort, the Shrimp van, and others that I can’t think of right now. Friday we hiked the Diamond Head which was pretty challenging but fun and the view of Waikiki was great. We stayed at the Hale Koa, which translates to House of the Warrior, that sits right next to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. So we got to see the Hilton Friday night fireworks, which I considered my Honeymoon fireworks, and I took a short video of them here. Saturday we visited the Pearl Harbor memorial and the Battleship Missouri, where Japan signed the surrender in WWII. So that was really neat but mostly boring for me after a while heh. Sunday we had a double busy day. In the morning we went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay and saw some awesome little fishies and other sea critters, but no turtles unfortunately. In the afternoon we went parasailing, which was quite a scary experience I must say. Monday was the awesomest day though. We went on a volcano tour of the Big Island on a little airplane. We got to fly over all the islands and that was neat, and then we stopped at several locations of interest at the big island, including Rainbow Falls, and saw several places where the 1982 volcano eruption destroyed a lot of the area. Walking on the lava was really neat when we went on the lava path to the black sand beach. We also visited the Volcano national park, but couldn’t see much action. A few days before there were a lot of earthquakes beneath the volcanoes and the tubes the magma used to reach the ocean were crushed. Now the magma has no escape route so eventually the pressure will build up until there will be an eruption. In the meantime, there isn’t much to see at the place where the magma and ocean meet. I took a video of it, you can see some steam but it’s not that visible, click here. We also got to visit an orchid farm and see the display of the $20,000 orchid. Then we visited the Mauna Loa factory and got to eat some yummy chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Mmm. Best trip ever! Tuesday was our last full day and we spent it relaxing on the beach. Sunday was the reception (that would be yesterday). I got to wear my purty dress again. We had about 100 guests. It was really a lot of fun. It was great to see so many of my friends right before we move away and it was just fun. I danced sooo much. Everyone seemed to enjoy the crazy Russian party heh. I kept grabbing friends onto the dance floor when music I was familiar with was playing but I sat out most of the Russian songs. Well, I actually wandered around and chatted with people so that was nice. My bestest friend aka my “sister” caught the bouquet cause I very carefully aimed it at her hah. Late in the evening just about everyone had left except for my closest friend from college and the two of us were dancing for a while with our men taking photos haha. It was great cause I wasn’t ready to stop dancing and neither was she. Then when I got home I thought my feet and hips were going to fall off. The toasts went pretty well and everyone liked my short little copied off the internet speech heh. The evening went well and I’m very relieved and happy.
Well, tomorrow morning we leave for Texas. A new journey has begun and within the week I will finally see my house!
