Spring Break 2005
Spring break is just too short. Tonight I’m driving back up to D-town.
But at least I had a great break, even if it was short. Let’s start with pictures click here to see the pics. Now let me describe what you see and the rest of the trip.
March 24: Thursday. We left at about 6:30am pacific time and drove and drove and drove. I took some pictures out the window when we passed Lake Tahoe (still California) cause the snow was so pretty. At about 6:30pm mountain time we stopped at our hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah, just in time to watch The OC at 7pm there. After The OC we went out to dinner, and that’s the cute “Leaning Bellini” drink glass you see.
March 25: Friday. We got up somewhat early to continue the rest of our journey. We took some pics at the mall in SLC but the mall was still closed, so I couldn’t buy any souveneirs. I got some at a gas station though. We arrived in Colorado at about 2:30pm (mountain time). We basically just chilled and spent time with his mom and watched a movie. I really like his mom’s apartment, it was really nice and cheap compared to California prices. She decorated like I would: with palmtrees and a beige/green color. I took a pic of the decorations heh.
March 26: Saturday. We drove for two hours and went on a snowmobile tour. It was pretty fun, and cold, and my face was numb haha. You’ll see some pics of us playing in the snow and on the snowmobiles. Stevie and I shared one snowmobile and his mom had her own. We got stuck in the snow a few times haha. We ended up having our own guide cause we didn’t know how long it would take us to get there, and we were an hour off. So we called and they just gave us a different guide an hour later than the normal tour. So that was really nice.
March 27: Sunday. Since it was Easter, most of the cute shops were closed, so we just went to another resort and rode the gondola up and around the mountains. Ya know the Coors beer logo with the 3 mountain peaks? That’s where we were! I took some pics of the ‘beer mountains’ as we now call them. The Rocky Mountains are so pretty, yep!
March 28: Monday. We left at about 6:30am (mountain time) to drive back home. On our way through Utah we saw some signs for the Arches National Park and we decided to stop and see it. It was just beautiful, and you’ll see tons of pictures there from it. Nature is a beautiful thing. I never thought Utah could be so pretty. The rocks were so colorful and the formations of weird shapes were just stunning. Nature is just amazing, that’ s all there is to say.
We were very glad we decided to stop. At one point we got a little lost cause we walked too fair from the trail and it was really scary. Me being the panicker had some panic attacks but he found the way to civilization again and brought us back safely. My hero!
Then we kept driving, and at about 9pm (pacific time) we decided to stop and get a hotel for the night. We stopped in Elko, Nevada. We got hooked up with a pretty nice cheap motel. I was impressed. We stopped at a Holiday Inn express and the guy at the counter told us of this place, that was more in our price range, and he called and told them to give us a good deal. Nice stuff. He said something about also owning that one so that’s probably why he was able to.
March 29: Tuesday: We had a free breakfast buffet at the Red Lion (we got that for staying the night at the motel we got hooked up with). That was really nice, good food. Then we decided to gamble $5 cause the machines were right there, just to say we did it. So we did. We lost haha. Then we left to continue our drive. We drove through many a snow storm, but eventually at 6:15pm pacific time we showed up at my house. Man it was good to be home! So much riding/driving just isn’t fun.
Today is Wednesday, and tonight I’m driving back up to D-town cause classes start in the morning. I hate that our spring break is only 5 business days long. That’s too damn short. They give us almost 3 weeks for winter break, 3 and a half months for summer, and only 1 short week for spring break? So unfair! I’m sooo exhausted from our journey and I feel like I need another week to recover. Oh well, can’t do much about that. Spring break is just too short.
